Trombone and Low Brass - Robbie Hioki
Robbie Hioki, Bass Trombonist, is a Los Angeles-based freelance musician, working as the bass trombonist for the Brian Setzer Orchestra the past 20 years. The Brian Setzer Orchestra has recorded several gold and platinum earning albums and he has entertained at the White House. Robbie's televised appearances with the BSO include: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman, Dancing With The Stars, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kelly, The Tony Danza Show and the Rachel Ray Show. Additional performances include Woodstock, The Pori Jazz Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival and multiple U.S. Tours, European tours and tours of Japan. One of Robbie's earliest jobs was with the Glenn Miller Orchestra from 1983-1985.
Robbie's freelance work includes playing with: The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Ray Charles, Horace Silver, The Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Les Brown and his Band of Renown, Paul Anka, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Bolton, Donna Summer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The 5th Dimension, Lou Rawls, Josh Grobin, Brian Wilson, Diana Krall, Michael Feinstein, Barbara Morrison and other artists.
Robbie plays bass trombone, tenor trombone, valve trombone, euphonium, sousaphone, tuba and drums.
Robbie is an experienced teacher with kids musically and with church organizations.
