French Horn - Cindy Deane
Cindy L. Deane has over 20 years of performing, teaching and coaching experience.
Some of her first horn students have become successful professional musicians and music teachers, and have attended schools such as Eastman, UCLA, USC and a Horn Scholarship student at Cal Lutheran University. Many students play in their All-State Bands, perform at Superior and Command Performance rating levels for their local Solo/Ensemble festivals and are members of their local Youth Symphonies, such as San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, Seattle Youth Symphony, etc. Teaching has included kids in 4th grade all the way up to adults. Adult students starting after a 20 year or more hiatus have come to perform with local community groups.
Cindy has a Master's of Music degree in Horn Performance from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music cum laude, in Horn Performance from the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music.
She is the Horn coach for the Verdugo Young Musicians Association and has coached in schools locally at Luther Middle School, Jordan Middle School and Arcadia High School. She was adjunct faculty for Northwest University in Kirkland, WA, and Horn Instructor at the Gene Nastri School in Mukilteo, WA and Horn coach at other local middle schools and high schools. In the Bay Area she was adjunct faculty for Dominican College in San Rafael, and local community music school in Mill Valley, CA. Locally she has performed with The JT Big Band, Pacific Symphony, Santa Barbara Choral Orchestra, Rio Hondo Symphony, and Principal Horn with New Valley Symphony and Pasadena Community Orchestra, various rehearsal Big Bands and jazz bands. She performs with both Woodwind and Brass Ensembles for the Non-Profit group, Inpiring Notes, which put on educational classical music shows and demonstrations for Elementary Schools in the San Fernando Valley. She has recorded at Capital Records in Hollywood, and Lucas Studios in San Rafael, CA. In Seattle, she performed with the following orchestras such as, Tacoma Symphony and Opera, Bellevue Philharmonic, Federal Way Symphony, Northwest Mahler Festival Orchestra, Cascade Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic, Choir of the Sound Orchestra and more. She participated in giving brass demonstrations for Seattle Symphony’s Symphony on Wheels in the schools, and performed for Seattle Symphony's Tiny Tots shows. Cindy also performed a wide array of chamber music in Seattle with Ladies Musical Club, a member by audition. She was a performer and founding member of the Convergence Chamber Players in the Pacific Northwest as well. They performed regular chamber series with a variety of ensembles in various church venues in and around the Seattle and Puget Sound area. In the Bay Area she was a member of The Chamber League, chamber music group that performed an eclectic array of chamber music for large and small ensembles, with much modern music. She performed with many regional orchestras in the SF Bay Area, such as, Sacramento Philharmonic, California Philharmonic, Fremont Philharmonic, Santa Cruz County Symphony, Vallejo Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Monterey County Symphony, Masterworks Chorale Orchestra, SF Choral Society Orchestra, SF Sinfonietta, Midsummer Mozart Festival Orchestra, Lamplighter’s Gilbert and Sullivan Orchestra, and more. She has also been heard in various other settings out of the norm of classical music including Latin/Salsa bands, jazz band/Big Bands and pop/rock music groups, including on tracks for The Billy Nayer Show’s album, Return to Brigadoon.
